A striking check may catch a customer’s eye, but a repeat order depends on receiving what was agreed. Before ordering a carton or a larger consignment, turn your design preference into a written buying brief.
Give the design a clear reference
Send the exact catalogue photograph or page link. Describe the main colour, check size and border you want. Ask whether the supplier can provide that design or is proposing a substitute. Agree on acceptable variations before placing the order.
Ask what the sample represents
Check whether a sample comes from current stock or is only a design reference. Request the stated fibre composition, finished length and width, open or stitched format, and care instructions. Keep the approved sample as a reference for the later delivery.
Compare more than the first impression
Look at the consistency of the checks, edges and finish. Measure the sample and, with the supplier’s care instructions, assess it after washing. Record any change you observe. A photograph cannot prove colourfastness, shrinkage or fibre content; ask for appropriate test information when those properties are important to your order.
Make quotations comparable
Ask each supplier to quote the same specification and quantity. Clarify whether the price is per piece, pair, dozen or bundle. Include minimum quantity, colour assortment, packing, taxes, freight, sample charges, payment stages and dispatch timing. A lower headline price may cover a different product or exclude delivery.
For buyers outside India
Share the destination country and city early. Ask who will arrange shipment, which documents the supplier can provide, what is included in the delivery quote and how shortages or damage will be handled. Confirm current import requirements with your freight or customs adviser before committing.
Before a repeat order
Keep the approved specification, sample reference, invoice and agreed assortment together. Ask whether a repeat batch will match the earlier supply or use a revised material or pattern. Clear records make the next sourcing conversation easier.
